Magazine cover- Planning for photography

For my magazine cover I will need to be taking photographs of the characters used in the soap. From this it will advertise the soap and introduce the characters.

The first set of photographs that I will be using will be of the characters on their own against a plain wall which can be edited accordingly to fit the conventions of a soap listing magazine. They will be of long shots, medium close ups and close-ups of the characters. Within their friendship groups (Jessie and Sarah, Zac and Ryan) and their potential love interests/relationships (Jessie and Zac, Jessie and Billy, Zac and Elizabeth). From these you will be able to interpret several story lines, through their expressions showing the reader what the characters are thinking and feeling.

From my research I found that conventionally magazine covers do not feature the same soap continuously on the cover. This would be so the magazine appeals to all audiences who may watch different soaps and not single out a particular soap. Because of this I will need to take additional sets of photographs to pose as other soaps and teasers for the storylines. For these teasers I will use close ups and mid shots. This will show the characters in that particular soap, through costume the reader will be able to identify them. Because the teasers are only small, close ups will be most effective to show facial expressions to give a hint to the storyline- along with the accompanying text. These will not be too overpowering against the main image and storyline on the magazine cover.
