For my magazine I am going to use four teasers to frame the main image. Therefore I will need 5 sets of coverlines to accompany these images.
The lead story will be of two of the main characters in the soap Hatton Park. The coverline I will be using for this will be "BETRAYED!". This will then have a strap line of 'IS TIME UP FOR JESSIE?'. Use of a question means the audience are left wondering about the story lines that are going to be shown in the magazine, therefore drawing the reader in.
One of the teasers will have the coverline "NEW CAST". Hinting at new developments in an existing soap that the audience will be familiar with.
The second teaser will have the coverline of "SNEAK PEEK- AUTUMN SHOWS". Giving the audience the feeling that they are getting inside knowledge of the soaps before they are shown on TV.
The next coverline will be "MURDER?!" Having this as a rhetorical question is something I have found as a convention on existing products. It makes the reader question what is going to happen, without giving away the full storyline.
The final coverline will be "SHOCK FINALE" this gives hints at what is happening in the soap. Making existing viewers want to continue watching the soap to see the apparent shock.
I will also have a strap of text at the top of the page. Something I have seen in the existing products. "CAN YOU WIN £500 IN THIS WEEKS SOAP CROSSWORD?" is a direct challenge to the reader. It continues the theme of soaps whilst offering an incentive to buy the magazine.
